Helena presents a variety of simple access points to the river.  Short trips with easy shuttles include the mouth of the St. Francis to Helena Harbor, or Helena Harbor south to Friar's point, MS.  It is also feasible to paddle upstream from Helena Harbor to Buck Island and back.  Every outing is a different adventure and the river changes constantly with water level and the season. 

Just 2 blocks away and over the levee is Riverfront Park.  An elevated boardwalk allows pedestrian access to the very edge of the river.  At high water, one can walk out over the flood plain, immersed in nature.
